It’s time to say goodbye to YouTube ‘Stories’. The company is going to get rid of them on June 26, 2023. Of course, it will keep its famous ‘Shorts’ and even announces the arrival of new features this year.
YouTube has announced that will close YouTube ‘Stories’ next month —June 26—. “Today, there are so many ways to create on YouTube, from community posts to short, long form, and live. To prioritize these key features, Stories will be gone.”, Explain.
Represented by a small red ring around the profile image of a YouTube channel, this content included a set of images or videos posted by the creator in true Instagram style. The big difference is that this function —and especially when compared to Youtube ‘Shorts’— it has failed to have a significant impact among creators.
Creators will receive alerts about the closure through various channels, such as forum posts, in-app messages, YouTube Studio reminders, and more, the video platform confirms. Any ‘Storie’ published before that date will be available up to 7 days after. After that period, users will no longer see them and the option will be gone forever.
“While Stories are going away, we’ve found that both community posts and YouTube shorts are great alternatives that can provide valuable connections and conversations with your audience”they add.
Goodbye to YouTube ‘Stories’
First launched in 2018, YouTube officially introduced ‘Stories’ to creators with more than 10,000 subscribers, but it never expanded access to everyone to allow the interaction to really take off.
Taking this into account it seems that the focus will now be placed on the 2 types of commented content. The former is recommended for those who want to start conversations, share updates, or promote their YouTube content to their audience. The ‘Shorts’ on YouTube seems to have managed to have a more established audience and encourages creators to switch to this option.
“With new features for shorts and community posts to be announced throughout the year, we are committed to investing in new and innovative tools to help you grow your audience on YouTube. We look forward to seeing what you create with all of these formats: community posts, shorts, live streams, and long-form content,” add YouTube.
