If you have noticed that Windows 11 is getting slower and you cannot function correctly with the operating system, do not despair, because there are some ways in which you will be able to solve all this slowness.
Having a slow computer in which the Windows 11 operating system is not capable of offering a performance in line with what we had at the beginning, makes it frustrating and tedious.
If the computer you’re using is running slowly, it may be pushing it beyond its capabilities with unnecessary background processes, non-essential third-party services, misconfigured notifications or privacy settings, among other things.
But it can also happen that a lot of junk files have accumulated or incorrectly set the power plan preferences, for example.
To solve it we leave you some tips that can bring performance back to what it was and thus have a satisfactory experience with our computer and its Windows 11 operating system.
What to do when Windows 11 is running very slow:
Storage Sense
Many times we accumulate such a quantity of junk files on the computer that in the end this can hinder the proper functioning and fluidity of the device.
It may also be that our storage is full or almost and that makes everything go slower.
The solution is to use Storage Sensea feature that Windows 11 has with which we are going to improve storage and, therefore, performance.
You have to do the following:
- we press Win + I to enter the Setting Windows.
- we select System in the sidebar and then we go to Storage.
- Now we must click on storage sensor (Storage Sense) to enable it.
- Click on Storage sensor and so we can configure the rules to manage disk space.
- We will be able to choose when Windows should run Storage Sense and how often it should delete files from the recycle bin and the Downloads folder.
- Once we have selected the options we want, click on Run Storage Sense now (downstairs).
Disable some services
Many of the third-party applications that we have on the computer start their services when they are installed, which helps to keep said app working correctly.
Although this is useful, it may be that so much information accumulates It is better to disable it, because it can be the cause of system slowdown.
To deactivate these Windows 11 services, we must perform these steps:
- We write in the search of the taskbar System configuration and select the option that is launched.
- Let’s go to the tab Services and check the box next to Hide all services Microsoft (it is important, you must not forget this step).
- Next, we check the boxes next to the services we don’t use much.
- Now we click on Disable all > Apply > OK.
- It only remains to press on Accept.
- It is convenient Restart your computer.

Disable various permissions
Some permissions in Windows can be good for the user experience, but removing them will not significantly affect the way we interact with the device, but in return it improves performance.
Therefore, you should disable them as follows:
- Let’s go to the Windows Settings (Win + I).
- We select the tab Privacy & Security.
- We review all the settings in the Windows permissions and disable those that do not affect the Windows functions that we need.

power plan
Windows users can choose from three power plans: high performance, balanced and economizer.
The balanced power plan can help reduce power consumption (it’s made for laptops, obviously), but the problem is that it limits the performance of the device.
In addition, we must take into account that the balanced power plan is usually the one that is selected by default, so if we want to opt for the high-performance one, we must activate it ourselves.
You just have to do the following:
- We push Win+X and we click on Execute to bring up your box.
- we put control panel and we give to Accept.
- Now that we are in the Control Panel, we must click on the top right on See for and choose Small icons.
- we select Energy options.
- Now we should click on High performance. If you don’t see it, click on Hide additional plans in order to show up.

disable notifications
Windows sends notifications on a regular basis to let us know about new app updates, problems with installed apps, bad syncs, and more. The problem is that these notifications consume a large amount of system resources.
To disable them and have better performance on the computer with Windows 11we must do the following:
- we open the Configuration (Win +I) and we are going to System > Notifications.
- We disable the switch next to notifications.
- We deactivate the applications that we consider within Notifications from apps and other senders.

Windows updates
Allowing automatic updates in Windows is something that makes life much easier for the user.
However, if these updates are downloaded in the background or are not installed right away, they just take up a lot of storage space and deteriorate performance.
To pause updates in Windows 11we must perform these steps:
- we return to Setting.
- We are going to windows update.
- Expand the dropdown menu next to pause updates and select the desired time period.

Applications overload the computer
If we have made the above adjustments, but we still have performance problems, it is most likely because some processes are overloading the system.
We must identify which processes are causing this problem, using the Task Manager.
we press Win+X and we select Task Manager. We now examine the resource consumption of all components, such as RAM, CPU, GPU, disk and network. If any of these components have a resource utilization percentage close to 100%, then something is causing an overload.
To sort the list by the components that consume the most, we click on the column header and thus see the processes that spend the most resources in descending order.
Then, those that are overloading our system we must close them by doing right click in the task and then pressing Finish homework. This should solve our performance problem.
Now you know What should you do if your Windows 11 computer is slowing you down? and thus recover its performance. Windows 11 allows us to make all these adjustments and return to having fluidity in the system.
