The Chinese platform TikTok, owned by ByteDance, is also working on “new ways to power search and discovery” on the platform, a representative for the firm has confirmed to Bloomberg.
Specifically, it is immersed in the preparation of Tako, an experimental ‘chatbot’ that “can answer questions and have conversations” with users, as indicated in screenshots of the application recovered by Bloomberg.
At the moment, this tool is only available to a small group of company employees, as stated by Watchful analyst Daniel Buchuk, a company that tracks development tests.
This tool, which would only be available to users over the age of 18, collects all types of information entered by users and shares it with anonymous “third party service providers” to provide answers to your questions.
Despite the fact that Tako registers this information, Bloomberg reports that users can choose to delete their data, although initially they are informed not to offer personal data to the ‘chatbot’, much less trust this tool to obtain advice of any kind. . “Tako’s comments are generated by AI and may not be true or accurate,” analyst Watchful noted.
Because the platform is still in the testing phase, TikTok hopes that this solution will allow it to obtain “increasingly accurate data to deliver personalized content” and individualized, with the aim of “revolutionizing the way people” make use of the platform.
