“Tako” would be the name chosen by TikTok to baptize its alternative chatbot to OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
After having put Instagram and the rest of the social networks based on short video content on the ropes, TikTok is now looking for a way to gain a foothold in the field of artificial intelligence. And for this, of course, you cannot miss the opportunity to create your own chatbot based on AI aimed at competing with the flagship tool of this last year, ChatGPT.
And that seems to be the idea of the company of Chinese origin. At least, this is what the information that today is shared by the intelligence company focused on the app industry suggests, watchful.aiwho confirms to have witnessed some tests of this new chatbot created by TikTok which the company would have baptized as “taco”.
Tako, the TikTok chatbot, is already being tested in the social network app
As it has been known, Tako is already being tested in some countries around the world. The chatbot will be present in the TikTok appvia a shortcut located on the right in the user interface.
When accessing Tako, the user will see a chat-like interfacewhere you can query the language model that brings Tako to life via text messages.
Everything seems to indicate that behind Tako is a language model belonging to another company, and that AI technology developed by TikTok itself would not be used. On the other hand, it has been confirmed that the chatbot will not be available in accounts belonging to underage users, and that TikTok will be able to review user conversations with the bot to improve the experience.
From TikTok they indicate that testing is taking place on a limited basis with some users residing in the Philippines, and explain that Tako is a AI tool that will help users discover and search on TikTok.
If it materializes, Tako could position itself as a real alternative to ChatGPT, which from one moment to the next would be present in the millions of devices around the world that already have the TikTok app installed. It remains to be seen, of course, if the language model used by TikTok is up to GPT-4, PaLM and the rest of the models present in the most popular chatbots today.
