The Spanish wine sector is facing an important challenge: digital transformation. This process is crucial to strengthen its position internationally and become a key driver of rural development in the digital age.
With Spain being the third largest wine producer in the world and a leading exporter thanks to its extensive cultivation, technology is presented as a valuable ally for innovation and improving the customer experience.
About this, Telefonica Techthrough your company Gepromhas developed and implemented a digitization plan at Bodegas Borsao, with the aim of transforming its processes and making them more efficient and competitive.
“The wine sector faces the challenge of digital transformation to be more competitive. The integration of the SGA and MES systems in the day to day of Bodegas Borsao gives them an unprecedented competitive advantage by having a global vision of the production process and having the ability to make better decisions aimed at improving business planning”, says Darío Cesena, CEO of Geprom, Part of Telefónica Tech.
The digitization of wine
Telefónica Tech has carried out a digital transformation consultancy and has designed an implementation plan in the wine company that includes two industrial digitization systems connected to the ERP:
- The EMS tool. This focuses on strengthening the management of the warehouse of raw materials and finished products. Thanks to this technology, Bodegas Borsao will be able to optimize its inventory, track its products from the moment raw materials arrive until the bottles are shipped, monitor stock in real time and ensure quality at each step of the process.
- The MES system. It will be in charge of optimizing production and improving the management of production orders. This will allow the warehouse to monitor line yields and order status more efficiently.
The digitization of the logistics and production processes of Bodegas Borsao is expected to increase its productivity by more than 10%, reducing unproductive times and optimizing the production chain.
