The travel agent and technology will be the main protagonists of the UNAV Future 2023-2025 strategic plan, presented in Córdoba this Thursday and Friday to some thirty executives from the tourism and travel sector.
The project, approved at the last General Assembly of UNAV, will be for the next two years, and includes eight main lines of action, with around twenty actions, which will be added to the content and services agenda of this organization.
Among the most outstanding initiatives are the call for the first National Congress of #TecnoTravelAgents, the celebration of a new UNAV Forum event, a ‘road-show’ through Spain or actions aimed at international audiences. Training will be another of the central activities of UNAV Future.
For the president of the dean entity, José Luis Méndez, it is the “most ambitious action plan designed so far by this organization” and stressed that “it will once again place the travel agent at the center of all actions that have been programmed, in which technology will also play a decisive and transversal role”.
The vice president of UNAV, Antonio Caño, was in charge of detailing the different projects included in the biennial work plan. Caño first reported on the IV UNAV Forum for the Future of Tourism, already converted into a reference sector call, which will be held this year from October 25 to 27 in Úbeda (Jaén), and in which the attendance of 150 is expected. agency professionals.
He then noted down some details of one of the ‘star’ actions of the program, the first National Congress of #TecnoTravelAgents, which will take place from November 23 to 25 and which will even have an international edition in March 2024. As will the participation of UNAV in the next editions of Fitur, which has focused primarily on destinations in Europe and America to explore ways of collaboration with a view to strengthening its projection.
It is estimated that about 500 travel agents, 50 technology exhibitors and 10 tourist destinations could participate in each of these events.
PROJECTS WITH DESTINATIONS, ‘ROAD-SHOW’ AND TRAINING
Other actions indicated by Caño have a “very novel” character. It is about carrying out reverse actions with tourist destinations, in which various brands of the UNAV Universe will participate, initially touring six destinations (Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Valencia, Seville and Malaga).
In this same section, in another line of work, direct actions with tourist destinations are included, whose purpose “is to promote certain destinations that in their tourism strategies are or are going to implement sustainable tourism and tourism strategies in intelligent or smart cities city».
In addition, a ‘road-show’ has also been programmed that will tour a dozen national destinations in three periods of the year. The priority audiences for this action will be tour operators, sponsors, developers of technological products and, of course, travel agents.
UNAV’s strategic plan is completed by a “resolute” commitment to training, whose actions will be in line with the dual training program that has already been signed with the Chamber of Madrid and that it wants to extend to other territories.
Likewise, the creation of an information and communication platform between employers and people in active job search is foreseen, as well as continuous training with company workers.
