Spain will match the great streamers with audiovisual platforms
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The new Audiovisual Registry will include the streamers in the same category as streaming platforms. Yes, it may sound strange, and in truth, it is. But the text that has been published makes clear the movement that the National Commission of Markets and Competition to ensure that this is carried out.

The changes are focused on getting the big streamers to be considered as audiovisual service providers. Why and how are they going to get it? First of all, there is the reason behind this change, this being the need to demand from these people a responsibility at the level of their reach and presence.

To date, streamers were all included in the same category and this has lost its meaning when we find personalities that rival national television in audience. Taking this into account it makes more sense for this type of registration to be carried out when, in addition, the streamers have complete control.

And, is that, to be a provider of audiovisual services you have to have control over the selection of content, the technology by which it is broadcast, the type of content, the scope and if it is a paid content or a free one. Come on, streamers meet these characteristics at all times.

Streamers in Spain will have to register as service providers

Obviously, streamers will have their own category within this new regulation. The streamers to register should be the ones with a huge following and, in fact, sIt is expected that large streamers will be included in this registry and not people with a small audience.

What is sought with the movement is to make streamers have to respond in case they break a series of rules. To date, it has been seen how some of these personalities have taken advantage of their position to carry out covert advertising actions or, for example, play games of chance when their audience is underage.

What this regularization does is put on the table a series of rules and responsibilities that did not exist before, allowing streamers to do whatever they want as long as they do not break the rules of the platform that hosts them. We will have to see how this works from now on since it is a proposal most interesting.
