In 2022, the activity of Samsung Electronics Iberia contributed significantly to the creation and maintenance of employment in Spain. In total, 17,548 jobs were created, which represents an increase of 10.4% compared to the previous year.
Of these jobs, 359 were direct jobs, while 3,284 were indirect jobs derived from the company’s expenses and investments. In addition, 11,336 jobs were created thanks to the driving impact, especially in the retail trade sector, and 2,569 jobs were created induced by higher household spending in sectors such as retail trade, hospitality, and wholesale trade.
On average, for each employee hired by the company, 49 additional jobs were created in the country. The total contribution to employment generated by the company represents 32% of the direct jobs generated by the Spanish air transport sector.
Samsung: The Impact of Knowledge-Based GDP
Samsung contributes significantly to economic development in Spain through its knowledge-intensive approach and use of highly-qualified human capital. In 2022, it generated a knowledge-intensive economic value of 79.4 million euros, 8.7% more than the previous year.

Knowledge represents 88% of the direct added value generated by Samsung, exceeding the average for the Spanish economy by 22 percentage points, highlighting its focus on intensive activities in human capital and technology.
In addition, the company’s total contribution to Spanish GDP reached 818 million euros in 2022, a year-on-year growth of 10%. This includes its direct contribution of 90.2 million euros, the indirect contribution of 159.4 million derived from expenses in national suppliers, and 401.1 million of the driving contribution to GDP from the sale of products, especially in electronics retail.
