The Buenavista del Norte Socialist group calls for political responsibility from Sí se puede for the publication of an image that denigrates women. The image was published on the personal Facebook account from number five of the sheet of Sí se puede by Buenavista del Norte, Micael (Michel) Acostaand signed by members of the same party.
PSOE condemns “that the body of any person be used as a mockery, knowing the negative consequences that it can have for the mental health of all”. In addition, “it regrets that mockery is used or the image of any woman or group is denigrated for not fitting in with the imposed beauty canons.”
As the group has stated, “we are aware of the devastating effect that misogyny and fatophobia have on mental health; particularly among our youth, who consume digital information on a daily basis”. Thus, they ask for political responsibility from the ranks of Si se puedea party that, according to them, “stands up for the right to equality and non-discrimination and, however, with acts like this, turns women into possible objects of ridicule.”
Unacceptable
“We consider it inadmissible for a candidate for political office to use their social networks to spread messages of this type,” they added. From the PSOE they have declared that according to number five of the ecosocialists, resorted to artificial intelligence to generate an image that represented the electoral period in the municipality. The photo has already been deleted from his profile.
Among the reactions to the publication, are that of the councilor and number two on the list of Sí se puede, Vanesa Martin, and the head of the list of the adjoining municipality of Los Silos, Andrés Yoel Rodríguez. This is not the only occasion in which Antonio González’s group shows what, from the socialist party, they have considered “infantilization of politics, which breaks the neighborhood coexistence and results in the rupture with basic values of democracy.”
