Spanish platforms find it difficult to compete with North American production series and films, so the best option is to bet on the local contentwhich in many cases has nothing to envy to international productions.
On April Movistar Plus+ premieres three outstanding Spanish films, of a very different nature. Are manticore, the motherly and Vasil. Do you know them?
Spanish films in April, with Movistar Plus+
The first of all, in order of release, is Vasilwhich can be seen sunday april 16.
Vasil is a friendship story between two mature men, very different from each other, who meet by chance. And also a reflection on social exclusion, cultural identity or migratory movements.
Vasil, played by the Bulgarian actor Ivan Barnev, is a chess master who, ever since he arrived in Spain, has lived on the street. There he is found by Alfredo (Karra Elejalde), a retired architect, who decides to welcome him into his house.
This is the first film by director Avelina Pratt, based on a true story that happened to his father.
The second title is the motherlywhich opens on sunday april 23. Here the plot revolves around teen pregnancy.
The filmmaker Pilar Palomero, who triumphed with her debut film, Las Niñas, has recreated a story about what it means to be a mother at 14. And to give it as much authenticity as possible, he has turned to non-professional actresses who have also been teenage mothers.

The leading role went to the debutante Carla Quilezwhose excellent performance earned him the silver shell to the best actress in it San Sebastian Festival of 2022.
In the film, Carla Carla is a 14-year-old girl who lives with her mother in a roadside restaurant on the outskirts of a town. manticore is a movie about internal monsters. Nacho Sánchez plays Julián, a videogame graphic designer who one day saves the life of a ten-year-old boy trapped by fire.
