Despite initial suggestions that iOS 17 would be a rather insignificant update, recent leaks indicate that the new version could contain some unexpected and substantial changes.
As is customary, Apple rolls out a major update to its iPhone operating system, iOS, on an annual basis. Given that the current version was released on September 12th last year, it is unsurprising to predict that iOS 17 will be unveiled in 2023.
Apple’s upcoming WWDC’23 developer-focused conference is only a stone’s throw away, and it is commonplace for new leaks to emerge continually regarding anticipated news and updates concerning the iPhone operating system.
While a previous article already discussed the latter part, it now appears that additional features will continue to be added to the upcoming Apple iOS 17, which is still yet to be launched. Preliminary reports suggest that the operating system may have fewer significant alterations than in previous years, but that seems to be changing gradually.
Several signs point to the possibility of a more substantial release, and a report by Mark Gurman in March noted that Apple had altered its plans for iOS 17, and is now expected to incorporate more notable features.
iOS 17: new features to expect to see
A member of the forum MacRumors now claims that iOS 17 will have substantial changes, seconded by a post on the Chinese social network Weibo from another informant via 9to5Mac.
Of course, there is talk of leaks and nothing is confirmed but as you will see they are predictable enough to seem likely. They include:
- Major UI changes and ‘Control Center’ customization
- New features for Dynamic Island
- Additional ‘Always on Display’ Settings
- More focus mode filters
- Health App UI Changes
- Camera app changes
- Notification of changes and additional options
- Changes to the ‘Find My’ app
- Adjustable flashlight brightness
- Improvements in the ‘Apple Music’ interface
- Share lock screen settings and more customization options
- Adjusting font size for lock screen and emoji wallpaper
When will iOS 17 finally arrive?
Apple’s forthcoming iOS 17 is anticipated to be unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023, slated for the 5th of June.
A month following the official launch of novel features, the operating system will undergo a public beta phase, exclusive to developers who can employ it to scrutinize their projects and identify potential malfunctions. It is anticipated that iOS 17’s final version will be released in autumn, conceivably in September, alongside the iPhone 15.
