I want an AI like Copilot on Mac and I think it’s close

The American giant has announced an absolute revolution in its Microsoft Build 2023: Windows Copilot. It is a tool that essentially what it does is integrate the technology of Chat-GPT in your computer’s operating system. This way you can ask it to do things like turn the brightness up or down, open a program, play a playlist, etc. The possibilities are limitless.

It is very similar to the chat that is already available on Bing. It is quite a virtual assistant but taken to another dimension that It will allow you to execute many actions much easier and faster. However, Apple does not seem to react. Or if he is, he doesn’t want to show it.

It is better to be the best than to be the first

As much as it’s hard to admit, for the general public, macOS is a superior operating system than Windows. It is much more optimized, it is faster and more efficient, it has fewer bugs and, as Steve would say: “it just works”. Yes indeed, This novelty from Microsoft could turn the tablesand Apple has to put the batteries.

Microsoft is knowing how to play its cards very well. Chat-GPT is the technological product with the most hype of the moment. Maybe even from history. Already now, being still in an initial phase, it surprises, but its growth can and will be exponential. They’ve incorporated it somewhat prematurely in my opinion, and that’s good in the short term, but macOS could take Windows for a while if they can’t keep it up to date as the AI develops.

As we have seen, what can be asked of Windows Copilot now is to lower the brightness, run an application, or make changes to the system. Somewhat useful, but not revolutionary either per se. That doesn’t interest Apple. Surely those of Cupertino are going further. They’re not looking for “turn up the brightness” but rather “open Final Cut and edit my last saved video to look like a movie from the 80s.” Much more complex tasks that really save time and resources to your user.

Those of Cupertino are not interested in being the first, but in the best

This is something that cannot be done at the moment, and that is why Apple does not talk about it. In fact, this story repeats itself over and over again. We have already seen a few foldable phones on the market, but they are too expensive, the screens are very fragile, they have permanent marks due to their bending… and Apple does not talk about it, despite working on something similar but better than doors for inside.

Similarly, quite a few virtual reality headsets have been launched on the market as well, but none have managed to make it big. Apple never mentioned it, until now. Curiously, the Reality Pro are the first that experts believe can win over the public. It is a pattern that is repeated forever. Those from Cupertino are not at all impulsive, and although at first it may seem that they are getting ahead of them, deep down they are not, it’s just strategy.

I really believe that Apple is working hard on the issue of artificial intelligence. They’re leaving very subtle clues, but they’re keeping too quiet, for sure. After all, Apple never tries to be the first, but the best, and that means analyzing the market before making any kind of decision or making a hasty launch.

It is clear that artificial intelligence It is the present and the future of technology. In Cupertino they know it, and they are working hard on it. Without going any further, today we have published that Apple is looking to hire experts in generative AI, which is the technology on which Chat-GPT is based.

It may be a bit early yet, but WWDC 2023 is just around the corner. We know that the great protagonist is going to be the famous virtual reality helmet, but I’m sure there will be many more news to come.. Perhaps a virtual assistant for Mac like the one just announced by Microsoft for Windows, or perhaps a Siri 2.0, which has been neglected for some time.

Be that as it may, it is clear that those of Cupertino are not interested in being the first, but in the best. When they do things, they do them well. Of course, until then it will be time to see how Windows users give us long teeth with all these novelties. Anyway, you know what they say: he who laughs last, laughs best. Apple, it’s your turn. Do not let us down.
