A couple of weeks ago, during their annual developer conference, Google surprised with the announcement of a broad portfolio of new features based on artificial intelligence (AI). Some of the most outstanding were announced for its online search engine.
Now, the company announced that it is starting to open up access to its new generative AI-based tools on Google Search, with a view to getting user feedback.
In general terms, during the most recent edition of Google I/O, the Mountain View company confirmed that Bard, the company’s artificial intelligence system, would be natively integrated into Google Searchwhich will change the way we search the internet forever.
The promise is simple. When making a query from the Google search engine, natively and integrated, he chatbot AI will make recommendations and deliver results to cover user doubts without having to access another page or request the participation of the bot expressly.
At that time, Google claimed that the revamped version of its search engine powered by its AI system (known as Search Generative Experience or SGE) would be available only in the United States through a new feature called Search Labswhich would not be activated by default or for all users.
This condition has changed. Through a post on its official blog, Google confirmed that it is expanding access to Search Labs so that a greater number of users can test the experience around the new functions based on generative AI that will reach its search engine.
How to test the new version of Google Search based on generative AI?
Early access to the AI version of the Google search engine is subject to a waiting list. Interested parties must enter the dedicated link to sign up for Search Lab and hand over some login credentials where having a Google account is the first step of course.
After providing the registration information requested by the system, interested users must wait for an email notification from which it will be confirmed that their account is enabled to start testing the new generative AI functions in the Google search engine. To access the full experience it will be necessary to have the latest version of the Google app installed on Android or iOS or the most recent update of Chrome for desktop.
