Using the concept of “workstation as a service” (WaaS) allows organizations to achieve a balance between costs, user experience and productivity in hybrid models.
This is how it stands out Unisys, in a study that says 86% of employees prefer to take a hybrid work approach. However, up to three in four workers acknowledge the possibility of losing up to 5 hours due to technology-related issues.
“With the use of WaaS, through the analysis of the needs and uses of each device, the organization can make decisions about poor user experiences and take precedence over user requests, generating greater satisfaction and retaining professionals.”, explains José Ramón Travé, commercial director of Unisys in Spain.
WaaS Strategy
WaaS tools allow complete personalization of the experiences of each professional and each work team and transfer many of the responsibilities of the technical team to a managed service provider, so that they can focus their efforts on business priorities and not on the resolution of conflicts related to the job.
To establish an efficient WaaS strategy, Unisys proposes:
- Be clear about the needs of the company’s professionals. Talking with workers to find out what challenges they encounter in their daily tasks is essential. A field employee, who spends his working hours visiting clients, is not the same as one who performs his tasks at the table in front of the computer, answering calls or preparing projects with teams distributed throughout the world. It is necessary to know how productivity aspirations should be resolved by combining efficient technologies adapted to each need. Some professionals may prefer a tablet and others may need state-of-the-art desktop equipment.
Through the use of tools to achieve “workstation as a service” (WaaS), organizations can balance costs, user experience and productivity in hybrid models
- Turn problems into solutions. Once the needs with which to satisfy the individual experience of each employee are known, each requirement must be translated into a response that resolves the capabilities of working following a hybrid model. With device subscription services, for example, you can enjoy the peripherals you need for a proactive and positive support experience. The same is true in common areas, such as meeting rooms, where augmented performance can be used if necessary. Virtual desktop infrastructures can also provide a solution for protecting data or for temporary workers, so that BYOD policies are protected.
- Relearn math: 1 + 1 = 3. Using WaaS strategies produces results superior to what an individual contribution can suppose. “Having a partner who is an expert in providing scalability and flexibility to the needs of the workforce empowers the technical team to focus on what is important to the business”, assures José Ramón Travé, commercial director of Unisys in Spain.
