It may be that at the moment you released Windows 11 you You will be disappointed that the change in design is not as radical as you expected and that it still seems a little more of the same to you, except for details such as the taskbar and the new Settings screen, the two parts that have changed the most.
There are people who consider that a great opportunity has been lost when it comes to changing the appearance of Windows, since, despite the new elements, the base of the operating system remains the same.
Obviously there are also those who think that this is the way to leave it, since a radical change would have provoked more criticism than praise.

The topics
In Windows 11 we can change between different themes with which we will be able to vary the appearance of the OS.
To achieve this we must perform these steps:

- At the top we will see some topics. Anyway, let’s press on Topics to see all those installed on the PC.
- We’ll see a preview of our current theme, along with a list of themes below it. We only choose the one we like and it will be effective.
- We can also customize each element of the theme, such as the background, sounds, and mouse cursor, using the links at the top of the page.
desktop background
If you do not want to change the entire Windows 11 theme, you can always modify parts of it, such as the background of the desk.
To have to do this:
- We right-click on an empty area of your desktop and choose, again, Personalize in the context menu.
- Click on Backgroundseeing that we have a few options to choose from in customize the background:
- Image: we choose from a preset group of images to change their background.

contrasting themes
If you need special attention in terms of viewing the screen of windowsyou can always modify the contrast to help you.
For that we must return to the Topics Windows as we have shown you before. After that go all the way down and click on contrasting themes.
You will now see a series of themes with high-contrast colors that make it easy to identify different elements on the screen. There are four options to choose the one that feels best to the eyes.

light or dark mode
We have little to explain here, since the title makes it very clear, we are going to choose if we want to clear modethe one of all life, or put the one that is being used the most right now, the dark.
You just have to do the following:
- we return to Personalize from the contextual menu and once inside we click on Colors.
- We can choose between light and dark mode using the option on the right side of where it says choose your mode.
- Just below we can deactivate the transparency effects if we want
- Below that, you can choose the Accent Color of the computer. If we change it we will see how this color is placed in places like system switches, links and more.
- If we want the theme color to be more visible, we can enable the options called Show accent color on Start and taskbar and Show accent color on title bars and window borders. You can enable both or just one of them, depending on your preferences.
- These settings are automatically saved.

Lock screen
The lock screen is displayed every time we turn on the computer, just before the password appears.
If we want to change it, we just have to do the following:
- We right click on an empty area of your desktop and choose Personalize.
- We are going to Lock screen.
- We can choose between one of the three options for the background of the lock screen:
- Windows Spotlight (default)– A daily rotation of random images curated by Microsoft.
- Image: choose an image that we want.
- Slide presentation: playback of a slideshow of images from the folders of our choice.
- Below this, we can also choose an app to display detailed information on the lock screen.

Wallpaper with third-party applications
As we have seen before, Windows 11 offers us several options for the wallpaper, but if you want more, Microsoft invites us to use the Bing Wallpaper application, which is capable of changing the desktop background to use the daily Bing image.
We tell you how to use it:
- We download and install the application BingWallpaper. We will see how the installer will try to configure Bing as our default search enginesomething that we must consider if we want to or not.
- We let the installer finish and We will see how the wallpaper it will change automatically and also rotate daily from now on.
- Another option that we have as an application of this type is lively wallpaperwhich includes interactive wallpapers with various designs, features and customization options.

the taskbar
Another of the parts that we can modify slightly, not being a great customization, but allowing us to make the odd change.
For example, we can change the cones in the center, as follows:
- We right-click on an empty area of the taskbar and click Taskbar Settings.
- We expand the panel called Taskbar Behaviors.
- Now click on the drop-down menu (Center) next to Taskbar Alignment and select Left to move the taskbar icons to that side.

There are a few other taskbar behaviors you can change on this page.
They are the following:
- Automatically hide the taskbar: when enabled, hides the taskbar and only appears on hover.
- Show badges on taskbar apps: Allow applications to display a notification counter next to their icon on the taskbar.
- Show flickering on taskbar apps: Apps on the taskbar show an orange color when there is a new notification or an important update.
- Show my taskbar on all screens– Taskbar should be visible on all screens when using multiple monitors.

- Share any window from my taskbar: allows you to share our window directly from the taskbar in applications that are compatible-
- Select the far corner of the taskbar to show the desktop: with this we can minimize all applications by clicking on the right edge of the taskbar.
