Easter has already arrived and the second operation out of these small and desired holidays begins. Because of this, many will take their cars to hit the road and reach their rest destinations.

There are many ways to benefit from technology while driving and while commuting. Among them, applications and notifications in case you exceed the allowed speed without realizing it, although I’m sure you many will want to know if during the road trip they will find some radar or another.

Fortunately, Applications as basic as Google Maps, Waze or apple mapshave within their settings the function of warning of the proximity of a radar on your route.

Next, you will learn how to activate these notifications easily.

Activate speed camera warnings from Google Maps, Waze and Apple Maps

Google Maps by default alerts you if you are near a fixed radar. To do this, you just have to choose what your route will be and from there you will see various icons on the map. Among them, the orange surveillance camera will represent the radars that exist on the road.

In ‘Settings’ is where you can directly check how you have configured notifications for these cases. If the voice warning box is activated, you will not have to do practically anything, just determine your route in the app as you always do.

Waze

Waze

In the case of Waze, The configuration implies a series of simple steps to be able to activate the radar warnings.

  • First access the application and go to ‘My Waze’.
  • Go to ‘Settings’.
  • Click on ‘Alerts and notices’.
  • The ‘Alerts’ option (or Reports, depending on your version) is the one you will select.
  • Within this section, there are two types of alerts: for speed cameras and for traffic lights. Activate both for added security.

By doing so, you will receive voice alerts when you approach one of the typical DGT speed cameras. They will also be visible to you on the route map within Waze just like in other apps.

Finally, it is also possible that you are an Apple user and want to activate this same function on your iPhone. To do this, first comment that your system is less accurate than Google Maps or Waze, not so much because of the functionality, but because its speed camera database is usually somewhat more outdated.

Despite all this, if you want to activate the radar detection function, it is just as simple as in the previous cases, although surely when you follow the steps you will see that it is activated automatically.

On your iPhone, open ‘Settings’ and go to ‘Maps’. Access ‘Voice prompts’. Make sure the ‘Pause spoken audio during navigation’ and ‘Listen for directions over radio’ options are enabled.

Now that you know how to activate this functionality in three of the most used travel applications, drive carefully, control your speed and make sure you reach your destination. Happy Easter.
