Google has implemented an interesting novelty to the Bard chatbot, its GPT Chat competitor and the new Microsoft Bing. The AI will now include relevant images in responses. While the user performs a search, for example about the best restaurant in the region, Bard will show images of food dishes next to his answer. According to Jack Krawczyk, director of Google products, the novelty will be available first in English and will soon reach more languages.
The new Google Bard was described on the company’s official blog as an important step in making recommendations more interesting. «Images help you communicate your ideas more effectively. They can bring concepts to life, make more persuasive recommendations, and improve responses when you ask for visual information.“, the company commented.
Ask Bard for pictures
Despite being only available in English, for now the most interesting thing about the new function is that the user can ask Bard to show, or not, images. That is, if you have a question about a topic, you can ask the AI for visual information to help you understand. In the tweet below, we see an example where Bard is asked to display images. Here the user asked a series of questions about the game. Diablo IVasking about character classes, when the game will be released and if it would be possible to show pictures.
in the answer the Bard presented details about each class, with specific information as well as an image on the topic.. The novelty significantly improves the user experience and facilitates the understanding of the topic. For now, we can only wait for Big Tech to continue to develop the technology and make the feature available in other languages, such as Portuguese. As we can see, despite the ChatGPT has come out ahead in the chatbot raceGoogle is making up for lost time.
