It’s no secret. Searches for “watch football for free” (or any other major sporting event) are very common. Because? Because they exist methods to do it illegally. And that, obviously, is a big problem for the operators and platforms that have the rights.

Movistar, for example, has spent years fighting against websites that broadcast games without a license and Europe has also been looking for a way to combat these practices for some time. But the websites are not the only problem: social networks have also become an ally of piracy. To deal with it, DAZN has teamed up with Videocites.

Objective: detect and eliminate illegal streaming on social networks

If there is something that characterizes social networks, it is the ease and speed with which you can share videos. That has its good part, of course, but it has also caused a large-scale increase in illegal emissions live sports content. And it is difficult that any manual solution can cope with it.

For this reason, within its campaign to fight against piracy, DAZN Group has reached an agreement with Videocites, a company specialized in solutions for the automatic detection of illegal content in social networks.

The objective of this strategic association, says DAZN, is to “intensify the fight against the theft of intellectual property (IP) and the illegal streaming of its content on social networks.”

According to the company, it is effective even though the video has been manipulated or distorted to evade detection mechanisms. Not surprisingly, its technology is already used in different sports competitions such as the NBA, various OTTs and even Hollywood.

With Videocites’ solution, DAZN claims that it will be able to remove it in a matter of a few minutes. 98% of the thousands of illegal reproductions detected on social networks.

His hope is, furthermore, that the interruption of these viewings will discourage the use of illegal links and push users to contract “legitimate streaming services.”
