Bad news for diabetics who had pinned their hopes on the Apple Watch

It has been a few years now that it has been rumored that Apple is working on including some new health sensors for an upcoming Apple Watch, and specifically that of blood glucose monitoring It is one of the most important and could revolutionize the market.

However, an inclusion of these characteristics requires a lot of research and development time, and although Manzana is apparently working on blood glucose monitoring technology for an upcoming apple watchit would not arrive in the short term.

According to mark gurman Bloomberg, in its latest news bulletin of power onhas indicated that although Apple is working on a blood glucose monitoring technology for the Apple Watch, it will take them from “three to seven years” pitch it.

And this is very bad news because we would not see an Apple Watch with this blood glucose monitoring technology until the end of the current decade since it requires years of work ahead, says the journalist.

As has been revealed, Apple has been using a technology known as “silicon photonics and optical absorption spectroscopy” to create this blood glucose monitoring.

This system would be making use of lasers to emit specific wavelengths of light in an area under the skin where there is interstitial fluid that can be absorbed by glucose.

This sensor would then reflect light to indicate glucose concentration, and an algorithm determines that person’s blood glucose level.

Apple needs more time to perfect the technology

Apple would need to perfect the algorithms and integrated sensors before bringing this technology to market, they also have to find a way to reduce the size of the module as much as possible so that it can obviously fit inside an Apple Watch.

So it is estimated that Apple will take a minimum of three and a maximum of seven years to present an Apple Watch with this technology, so it is likely that even Apple Watch Series 16 will not see it.

Apple has been testing this blood glucose technology in hundreds of people for the past decade, but due to its complexity, they haven’t yet managed to include it in the Apple Watch.
