telephone has presented in style Are you App?the, according to them, “first web series that deals with the importance of mobile applications and the world of new technologies in today’s Spanish society”. For this they have had many familiar facess of the cinematographic and, above all, television scene in our country, such as Aída Folch (starring in “The artist and the model”, Jimmy Barbatán (the friend of the children of “Los Serrano” and who also appears in “Torrente” and “Torrente 3”) or Javier Calvo (Fer in “Física y Química”). It is sponsored by telephoneand the contents will be available on various digital platforms, such as Youtube, Facebook or the series website itself.
The idea is very simple. They are humorous sketches of about five minutes in which they try to reflect everyday situations in which new technologies are very present. Facebook, Twitter, Tuenti, WhatsApp, emoticons, “SMS writing”… Words that did not exist a few years ago and that, it is true, are part of our lives. Its theme , the duration of the chapters and its distribution through the Internet show that one of the objectives of Are you app? is to achieve great distribution through virality. In other words, the episodes are sent by email and shared on social networks, encouraging all kinds of comments. In fact, its authors hope to have the contributions of users for the future development of the series: costume ideas, new plots, music… they even open the door to participation in an episode.
Are you App? will be available from November 14. At the moment, it is already available trailerr. This, unfortunately, confirms some of the fears that the idea aroused a priori. Leaning completely on jokes related to new technologies weighs down the project. Especially if, as can be seen in this preview, clichés and commonplaces are abused. Internet, smartphones and social networks are part of our lives. Why give them special treatment, when they are not? Jokes related to them can be integrated into any other topic. A great example of this in the series “The Big Bang Theory”. Its main attraction is that: how natural all the gags related to technology seem as part of something else, not as the center of the plot. Once seen the progress, one is left with the feeling that it is the same as always. The same actors, the same kind of humor, the same tone. Not very different from the “Married”, really. cybermarried.
