If you’ve been using an iPhone for many years, you’re going to have to say goodbye to a service that you’ve probably been using to save some of your photos.
Everything has changed for more than a decade, and Apple has definitely taken the expected step of dispensing with one of the features that were a true revolution in its time, but that have now been surpassed by other cloud services.
Manzana has disclosed in a supporting document that will close My Photo Stream on July 26, a service that has been available for more than 10 years and that allows us to synchronize photos from Apple devices over the Internet.
The feature, called in Spanish “my streaming photos,” was announced at WWDC 2011 and can automatically upload up to 1,000 photos.
This uploaded media then stays in the cloud for 30 days and is automatically downloaded to other devices using the same Apple ID.
With the arrival of iCloud Photos, this service was forgotten, basically because Apple wanted it that way by promoting the new service more, and leaving the old one forgotten on our devices.
So much My PhotoStream as iCloud Photos They upload pictures to iCloud, but because “My Photo Stream” hasn’t been updated, their pictures cannot be accessed on other devices like the Apple Watch.
In fact, if you recently have an iPhone, it is likely that the name of this feature will not even appear.
In any case, you can save your images to My Photo Stream in the library by going to Photos, then album, then selecting the images you want, then tapping the share button and saving image.
Apple clarifies that this service will stop accepting new uploads on June 26 and that images uploaded before will remain in iCloud for 30 days, and after that date they will be deleted.
