What is MacGPT and how to install it on your Mac?
MacGPT is a free application developed by Jordi Bruin that allows us to have direct access to ChatGPT from the application icon in the dock, or from the top menu bar of the Mac. In this way, access to the application and its use become much faster and more efficient. In the end, it is a interface in the form of an App that is connected to ChatGPT and lets you use it in the same way, but with quicker and more direct access.

Once you have downloaded and open the application on your Mac, you will see that a new icon appears in the top menu bar. It is the App icon, if you click you can directly access ChatGPT on the web. You can also access Native ChatGPT, which would be the MacGPT app but for this you will need an API key.

Before, we recommend that you click on the icon App settings. Then click Menu Bar. Here you will see a mini-menu where you can customize some aspects of this menu bar. Finally, you can change the icon that appears in the menu bar.

For example, the option to ask questions or launch prompts using a keyword such as /gpt from any native App on your Mac and that is activated directly to give you an answer. Although there is currently an own ChatGPT App for iPhone, the same developer of MacGPT has decided to create his own free version, called Geepeetee. The advantage of Geepeetee is that it also allows us to interact quickly and easily with ChatGPT by voice and establish multiple conversations at the same time. In addition, this App also includes the option to add a private key or API private key.
